Inspired by the lake’s serene beauty and stunning sunsets, the homeowners envisioned a luxurious space that blends seamlessly with nature.

The property’s prime lakefront setting is enhanced with lush native plantings, including vibrant hydrangeas, framing the space with natural charm. A raised, rectilinear Techo-Bloc paver patio, featuring permeable Shale Grey Blu Grande pavers, anchors the design with unobstructed sunset views. Design elements and features: 
   Six multi level paver patios
   Three Permeable paver patios.
   Sunken Pool Bar & kitchen with  seating inside the pool and outside the pool.
   20' double water falls drop into pond w/ glass panels separating pool from the pond allows koi view from the pool.
   24"x 30' Running/trickle water wall over natural stone into the the pool.
   3 Built-in bistro tables.
   +20'high boulder wall system featuring perennial garden plantings.
   Floating boulders built into the pool.
   
Design challenges:
   12'high Bar wall engineered with 3/4" rebar & a solid concrete pour.
   Lower levels of the patio system were built and excavated below the water table level, so extensive & creative drainage system had to be installed.  In addition to water pumps active while under construction.
   Trenching was so extensive under and around the hardscape areas that all soil had to be removed from the site & replaced with compacted clean stone so there was not a threat of future settlement. There was over 1500 yards of soil removed from the site and over 1500 yards of aggregate trucked into the site.

Spa and Fireplace:

The fire place is 17' tall at its highest point and 22' wide at the base. Stone veneer covers a steel structure and the fireplace is finished with wood holders on either side of the hearth. An outdoor TV was hung above a wooden mantelpiece and a surround sound audio system was installed which transformed the seating areas on the patio and the hot tub into personal movie theater experiences.

One major difficulty we experienced was making sure this project blended in to the previous project we had installed. A lot of the same materials were used to aide in the construction but we had to remove and reinstall some of the paver areas and boulder walls to create an even flow of the new vs old project around the pool. These new additions to the pool and main paver area had to be incorporated in such a way so as to maintain the artistic flow of the backyard without compromising the structural stability of the area. 

​This project took an already out of this world residential backyard and transformed it into something truly masterful; a breathtaking oasis in the middle of a suburban neighborhood.​

Building a Comfortable Community

CareOne at the Cupola is an assisted living community with about 150 residents. Their development encourages social engagement through relaxing activities available in their communal indoor and outdoor spaces.

Their outdoor living area features two court yards separated by a hallway. The courtyard receives daily use and upkeep had become a problem. The owners tasked Monello Landscape Industries to come up with and install an impressive new design that incorporated the needs of the residents.

The materials used were all Techo-Bloc products, creating the perfect look and feel for this outdoor living space. The finished product includes outdoor kitchens, pergolas, water fountains, audio/lighting, seat walls, custom pavers and a sensory garden.

Commercial Courtyards

Weymouth Massachusetts Courtyard

This courtyard project won first place in 9th HNA (Hardscape North America) awards for commercial project less than 20,000 sq. ft. in the mixed hardscape category.

This project is at a nursing home in Wilmington, Massachusetts. This courtyard serves as the facility's only courtyard and has a lot of daily use by the residents. We were approached by the owners and asked to come up with a new design for the spaces. Something that would create a wow factor while also incorporating the needs of their residents. By utilizing outdoor kitchens, pergolas, water fountains, audio / lighting, seat walls, custom pavers, a sensory garden and a variety of beautiful plantings we were able to provide the client with a showcase piece for the ages. 

The outdoor kitchens were made out of a steel superstructure with a veneer installed on the outside. A leathered granite was installed for the countertops and was also used for the many bistro tables throughout the courtyard. To customize these bistro tables for our client, half of the tables were lowered down to ADA height compliance so that those confined to wheelchairs would still be able to use and enjoy the space. Another unique feature that can be seen in both courtyards is the use of multiple paver choices. The main patio was installed using a Techo Bloc Blu 60 aged paver while the inner walkways contain a Techo Bloc Blu 60 smooth paver. Using these different pavers creates a unique identity as they instill a sense of movement throughout the space.

Seat walls were installed along the periphery of the patios with Techo Bloc Mini Creta wall block. Finally, custom pavers were installed with the company's logo and location.
